Rescue Pets From Hot Cars, LLC - Leave Them Home, Let Them Live- PSA Playing In Supermarkets

HARTFORD Connecticut – June 1, 2018 – Rescue Pets From Hot Cars, LLC introduces a public service announcement “Leave Them Home, Let Them Live” for distribution to supermarkets. The thirty-second audio public service announcement warns shoppers about rising temperatures inside a parked vehicle, and the deadly consequences it poses to pets.

Robin Potwora, the founder of Rescue Pets From Hot Cars is the first pet advocacy organization to present an in-store educational tool in a campaign targeted at educating pet parents. The public service announcement warns shoppers about the potential consequences of leaving a pet alone inside a parked car. Price Chopper/Market 32 is the first supermarket to join Potwora's effort to protect pets, featuring the public service announcement in one hundred thirty-four stores throughout New England. Potwora says, "Until supermarket managers, dog breeders, and veterinarians join our initiative, we'll be their voice!"

The American Veterinary Medical Association reports that hundreds of pets die yearly in parked vehicles from exposure to the heat. If the outside temperature is 70° F, in just ten minutes the temperature inside your vehicle can rise to 90° F. Rolling down the windows a few inches makes no difference. As a result, a pet is at risk for heat exhaustion, organ failure, or worse death.

Founded in September 2018, Rescue Pets From Hot Cars, LLC began with the organization's signature windshield flyer which can be found on its Internet website.  Potwora, recommends leaving her flyer on the windshield of a car whenever a pet is spotted alone inside a parked car regardless of the season.  She believes if a pet parent leaves a pet alone inside a parked car in the winter they're bound to be doing it in the summertime too. Heat isn't the only danger pet face, according to the American Kennel Club, 2 million dogs are stolen yearly. Rescue Pets From Hot Cars, LLC is headquartered in Torrington, CT.
